Using Powder As Sunscreen?

Posted by admin

I use Maybelline Mineral Power Finishing Veil Loose Powder. The first ingredient in it is zinc oxide, which i know blocks UVA and UVB rays. The question is, can since it has zinc oxide, can my powder double as sunscreen? it doesn’t list any SPF rating…

Chances are it doesn’t have enough zinc oxide to have an SPF rating.

You should still wear sunscreen underneath, or find a mineral makeup that has enough to provide sun protection. Though, chances are, you will never apply a thick enough layer of any makeup to provide the amount of sun protection you will need.

No. If it says a level of SPF then it has SPF in it. Remember to use SPF 15 or higher.

If it doesn’t have an SPF rating on it I wouldn’t count on it. I use bare minerals when I go in the sun, which is labeled as SPF 15.
